I thought this was a nice solution for all of us who feel like we need to do something as a result of Eight Belles' breakdown.

Yeah, I saw that too. I liked her book.

And I got a chuckle out of the Beyer figure. ;)

How fate stepped in...they couldn't wedge him into the trailer going to slaughter...and now he's got a home to be fat and sassy.

I always believe things happen for a reason...

Perseveres with his heart
And wins with his character. --Tesio

Rudster made 74 starts for nine owners, with three wins (the last one coming two and a half years ago). Last year, he had three last-place finishes and one second-to-last in four starts. His final Beyer figure was a “7.” Shortly after, he was purchased for slaughter. Then, fate stepped in.

What a wonderful idea of Hillenbrand. But I feel somewhat bittersweet. 74 starts this horse put out there, nine different hands, and what is his grand prize ..... a slaughter sale. Now on the other hand we have high bred gallant 10 or less race starters (win or not) getting put into a breeding shed for thousands of dollars...... sometimes I wonder where the justice is for the hard knockers.... I am glad this one found some.
trying to come up with something brillant..... this may take a while. :)

I take the good where I can find it.
