Irish 2,000 Guineas

Postby Hold Your Peace » Sat May 24, 2008 8:16 am

English 2,000 Guineas winner Henrythenavigator also won the Irish 2,000 Guineas today.

Makes me like the chances of the filly Saoirse Abu in the Irish 1,000 Guineas tomorrow as she defeated the colt Henrythenavigator last year in the Group I Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh before beating her own sex when winning the Group I Moyglare Stud stakes (also at the Curragh). Last out (in her second start of this year) Saoirse Abu was third, beaten only a length, in the English 1,000 Guineas and the two ahead of her in that race are not contesting the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

New Approach was second, 1 3/4 lengths behind the winner with no excuses as he had everything his own way.

And Stubb's Art was third, beaten 3 1/2 lengths.

Jupiter Pluvius was fourth.

Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf winner Nownownow was fifth and last.

1000 Guineas Result:

1st Halfway to Heaven
2nd Mad About You :D
3rd Caribbean Sunset

Tuscan Evening was put down from second to fourth following a stewards inquiry.

I'm quite thrilled with this result as Mad About You is a three-quarter sister to my stallion Legal Jousting. She performed rather well in her first start of the season!

With the cost of gas rising exponentially, I like free.

 Our gas-price at the petrol-station is 2,35 $/litre = 9 $/gal actually. So we like "for free", too
