I have it. I bought it on EBay for $26. It does have a lot of questions and answers, but I don't think it would be particularly helpful for the CA trainer's test. I've heard recently that the Ca test relies heavily on knowing the medication rules, and the barn test is completely dependent on what trainer they pick to quiz you. If he knows you, you're a cinch, but if they don't like you, they'll stop the test for anything.
I heard of one guy that was told to put on a wrap. He knelt down and accidentally started to wrap the wrong direction. Before he could even stop himself, they stopped the test and told him to come back later after he'd learned something. You have to figure a guy's nervous taking his test. It would have been much more fair to let him take a few wraps around and figure it out. Who hasn't gotten momentarily confused when wrapping or rolling a bandage?
Anyway, it does have a lot of questions, but a lot of them build on the question before, so it's not like there are 100 unique questions. I'll try to bring it with me tomorrow and type in some sample questions.

I got my first trainer's license at Keeneland in the early '70's. Was absolutely petrified, knew nobody, was just a girl in my early 20's. I remember they asked me how many furlongs were in a mile? What would I consider a "good" time for a 6 furlong race? What do you call the spongy part of a horse's foot? Plus a couple of other "nothing" questions. I nearly fainted from relief when they told me I passed and gave me my license. I had been a licensed owner since I was 18 and just wanted to train for myself, so maybe they were easier than they would have been if I had wanted to train for other people, although nobody ever asked me what I planned to do with the license if they granted me one. I don't think I would pay to buy the test if you've spent any time around TB's on the track unless the test has changed radically since then.

I had a hundred questions and a practical if I passed it. Like Midwest said, if you ARE ready then it should come fairly easily. Alot of it is common sense. Every jurisdiction is different, but familiarity with a condition book, a rule book and medication rules are often helpful.

I can kind of see your point, but on the other hand, some things should be at the 'instinct' level, so if it was a basic wrap, I can also see why they stopped the test. I'm really a novice, but it feels down right akward to even try to go the other way around.

I'll butcher this, but always wrap toward the body... so right side you wrap clockwise and left you wrap counter clockwise... did I butcher that... it's just a natural thoughtless job after a while....

You've said it well, Tuc. I usually say, "wrap so that you pull the tendon toward the midline." Same thing.
Karie, every professional test I've ever taken was hard (I'm a scientist, and have to have a lot of national certifications and licenses), but I was well prepared for it. I don't like to take a test where you have no idea what will be asked, or in what format. So kudos to your friend for trying to raise up her preparation level.
