I HOPE YOU'RE RIGHT. we're going and a BB/Curlin/Casino Drive Classic would be to die for.

I agree. It would mean the greedy owners/breeders would care about the sport and the fans. Only Jackson seems to care, which is why I'm rooting for Curlin every time he runs.

Could be. But if he came back late summer, had an impressive prep or 2, it would make the BC Classic even better. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him. It was just 1 race. Remember after the Preakness he was considered the best horse in the world. lets not bandwagon on and off just because of 1 race.

What is the general consensus?
BB's value at stud
1. is as high as it's going to be right now, Belmont included
2. He needs to run again against horses of substance to redeem himself. OR breeder's are forgiving as clearly something went awry whether it be a soundness issue or a trip issue, or.....
-If he runs and looses what does that do to fee/value
-If he runs and looses what does that do to his fee/value
Does it actually help him to ever run again? Or are they better off calling it a day?

I think they are better off calling it a day and put him in the breeding shed.

if he goes to the Travers and throws in another clunker then his stud value goes down a lot.

if he wins the Travers then i still think they can name there price.

But after yesterdays race i wouldnt take a chance. Take the 5 for 6 record with (3) Grade 1's and retire him.

Admittedly, I don’t know squat and can’t afford to breed to him, anyway. But, if I could - I would want to see him run again. To me, they have basically confirmed that he can’t do it steroid-free. With the uncertainty of the future of legal steroid usage (not to mention the independent choice(s) against it ) - I would not want a baby that needed steroids to perform. Couple that with his feet and his less than exciting pedigree - it becomes a no-brainer - for me. Once again - I have NO experience. If they want to prove he’s good - give him time to get well and get over the effects of the steroids - and show us what he can really do.

How about changing the “he outran his pedigree” thoughts to - “he outran his pedigree when he was on steroids…” ?

I really hate it, though…he sure is a nice looking boy and when he runs good - he runs GREAT!!! I hope we get the chance to see him run well and clean.

Do you suppose he was on steroids when he won his first race and attracted IEAH’s attention?

Granted.

Wondering if…

1) He was on steroids prior to his first start.

A) If so (and it’s obviously legal) - why change the regime that he’s known his entire racing life?

B) If not, would he have been better off without them?

That’s all. Not making a judgment - just trying to learn…
