Oconee Gold - Friends Lake - Gold and Delicious
Heard that he may be one to keep our eyes on..Very impressive in his debut at Delaware
des
Considering that he broke slow, ran wide around both turns, moved to the leaders when asked and won in hand I agree it was an impressive run. Jones told one of the New York papers on Sunday, the day before the race, that he was his Derby horse for next year. Considering that Jones elected to run him at a mile for his first start says he was confident. Also, considering the wide run he probably ran at least a mile and 70 yards, maybe more, with a final time of 1:39 1/5 eased up, I don't know what bdw0617 considers impressive, but he obviously has never been to Delaware Park because if he knew how tight the turns are and what a disadvantage running wide brings he might change his opinion.
Barring any bad luck, you will hear from this horse in the future.

dude, what is your problem?
I just posted my opinion, that he is not a grade 1 horse. go bust someone else's chops.
you didn't say he was a grade 1 horse? you just implied that Jones thought he was a derby horse!!! isn't the Kentucky derby a grade race? make up your mind.
regardless... I don't care if you THINK he is or not, I DON'T. and all I did was state that I didn't think he was. nothing more, nothing less.

Every trainer has two year olds they perceive as their "Derby horses", but few ever win a graded stakes.
I don't think anyone is saying this horse is a G1 winner yet. It's ridiculous to say that coming off a maiden. Way too many variables even if he has the talent.
And Bdw, you do get a tad defensive when ever someone questions YOUR opinion, yet you always question others.
Questioning is fine, but the defensive nature of many of your replies get a little old. Just keep that in mind, especially when you have the very dismissive habit of starting many of your replies with an "um no".
Mutual respect should always be offered on the menu.
Getting back to this colt, I still can't get a handle on Friend's Lake. He's a good looking stallion and they should like two turns, but I was never dazzled by him.

You can take my statements any way you want, but not once did I state or "imply" that you are an idiot. I said, and continue to say do not put words in my mouth, I never said this horse was a Derby horse or a Grade 1 horse, I said I believe his maiden win was impressive. I also said that if you knew how tight the turns are at Delaware you might change your opinion as to whether the win was impressive or not.
As far as I am concerned, you don't need any help being called or being referred to as an idiot.

To change the direction of this subject The mares name is with an "N" not "and" I know as I foaled her out 4 yrs running at Frank's Farm South very sweet mare....
Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and lets not get upset if someone disagree....
Most people will look at the final time and say impressive. I look at the overall run and not just the time. Keep in mind he's only 2 years old and should improve. By the way I guess we already know who the Grade 1 winners will be
Or do we? Its early yet but don't count him out as yet .....
