i've noticed the number of bets have dropped from about 35% from 2 years ago.. somewhat becuase i am more selective on races, but also because I have a golden rule that i resfuse to put money on a horse who has not gotten a race over a surface. not necessarily THAT surface but the same. for instance dirt.
all these circuits need some uniformity. i'll like a horse at keeneland but nope, never ran on all weather before. then i will go to churchill and it's the exact opposite.
i've had 2 of them this morning, one at keeneland and another at oak tree who i would not heistate to place a bet on, at good odds with that, but never ran on the surface before. one is coming from fairplex and another is coming from laurel park.
i'm sure i'm not the only one that is holding on to their money because of it.
i'm not really anti poly, i'm anti we don't know what the hell we want to do.
i can't make bets

There are a lot of excellent betting opportunities wagering on surface switches. I own a horse who is three for four on first time surface switches with winning mutuals of 8.20; 8.40 and 51.80.
You can find a number of good bets looking for horses with a class edge running on a new surface for the first time..

there is no golden rule to betting. i go with what I am comfortable with. i have my betting niche figured out and when i am putting "big boy money" down on a horse, i like to be as comfortable as i can, and genearlly know what is going on. when there is a surface switch you have to ackowlege, at least I do, that i am guessing on how he will preform and to what level. that doesn't bode well with me.
some feel differently, that's just "how i roll"
