you would think

Postby bdw0617 » Tue Oct 21, 2008 7:19 am

that the biggest event of the year in horse racing, they would be smart enough to get the M/L done before I don't know.. 48 hours before the event started.

i don't want a specutory list to handicap.I need to see what the M/L maker is thinkign, who is officaly going to be int he race. these races take a while to handicap, and there are so many of them. you can't just put the list up late wednesday/early thursday.

it's thigns like that that hurt handle. what about the guy that works 60 hours a week and can't find time to actually handicap the race becuase you don't give him enough time to?

Whats goin to hurt the handle is not being able to make a legitiment bet with any conviction. Any serious player would be foolish to bet any horse running over that surface for the first time. I will just be watching for the first time in my life, sad really

I wouldn't bet a nickle on these races this year unless it was purely for fun. How could you possibly handicap these horses running on this surface for the first time? It's nothing more than a crapshoot in my opinion.
I'll meet you on the other side.

A lot of serious players are goin to stay out of the pools. If you are serious abotu this game and betting these horses how can you bet with any confidence. Its a complete joke

I dont think I can bet this Breeders Cup. I was thinking about just going to my favorite local track and having a few drinks and just relaxing. Its ashame because I generally do sort of send it.

Unfortunately the sprint would have been a cakewalk for Benny!

My policy for the last two years has been not to bet the Kentucky Derby because of the 20-horse fields. It's a personal boycott that will last until they are chopped to a reasonable size.

And now, since I never bet artificial surfaces, this is the first year that I won't be making a bet on either the BC or the KD. I'm not sure that I will even watch.

Kinda like the old days, before we had sire stats, or even speed figures, in the DRF: you have to make your own stats for synthetic surfaces.
Unusual Heat in SoCal, Bold Executive @ WO, Street Cry, Tiznow ... certain sires offspring do better than average on synthetics, in my observation.
The doping factor is more problematic with regard to serious wagering, IMO.
At least you should have some level of confidence that the human connections will sincerely be running to win (or place as high as possible) in these events.

which proves my point. the new surface,a ll that stuff, i need TIME. i need REAL ODDS. i get the odds on wednesday and I got what.. really 24 hours to handicap 2 days of races? you gotta be kidding me.

I've been studying the oak tree track like a hawk. that's not my main concern. after all the blowing and complaining I actually think they got it pretty darn right this time. dirt horses for the most part take to it, moreso than turf horses in fact.
