What a disappointment, but still a champion.

Well thats why they didn't go for the Arc, he is a DIRT horse. No eastern dirt horses won all day. What a farce this BC was, and more this polycrap next year.

He still picked up a check...$10 million plus in earnings. No shame in his game...he had a long season. Asmussen said Curlin was off the bridle and it was like he was running a turf race. At least he gave synthetic a try and he wasn't thrilled about it either.

The crowd gave him an ovation.

He's still a champ in my eyes....

Now comes the question about HOY...talk is Zenyatta....9 for 9.

Polytrack surfaces are not artificial dirt they are artificial turf, why don't people acknowledge this.

Yes bdw they are, thats why its more likely that a turf form will transfer to poly than dirt form. Haven't you noticed?

May I point out that there were no injuries evident on either day?
Maybe Ploycrap is a little kinder?

so is cotton.

your point being?

you took curlin, who hasn't lost a race on dirt all year, and he runs on what equates to brown turf and loses., now he isn't great?

i'm sure if raven's pass ran with him on dirt the outcome would not be the same.

so at the end, what do you REALLY accomplsih?

Curlin would get my vote for HOY because I think he showed he is faster than Zenyatta or Big Brown for that matter. If it was about going undefeated Peppers Pride would win.

Many Breeders Cups were run without injuries on dirt and last year was run in absolute soup with no problems until poor GW. How would the poly fare in a downpour thats the real question. Not so good I bet thats why they are quick to cancel racing when it rains.

I would bet that Zenyatta gets Horse of the Year.

No way is this even a dissusion in that Curlin should still be horse of the year over Zenyatta. Curlin was at his best late last year & early this year. His summer campain was very consistant & workman like he was never dynamtic this year after the Dubai Wold Cup. He didnt beat that much this year & lost twice how can that campain be thought of contention for HOY against Zenyatte who was brilliant & never really close to being contested against the best that could run against her on syen & dirt. There is no compairson.
