I like Candy Ride and so far his progeny have run well, but how can you say a 4 time starter is the soundness boost the breed needs. I know he had "problem feet" but there must have been something else going on too.
Outcross, ya he helps us, soundness onto foals...we shall see, I hope I'm wrong.

Sorry. But that is not what I recall reading about Candy Ride. I was a BIG fan of the horse. I do remember resading he had "foot problems" and Mc Anally took of his shoes hoping his feet would get better they never did. And he was retired. I don't ever recall reading he had a "bow"

dont belive what u read in the trade papers, i hav know tony for 20 years, he is a responsible hard working groom, he has spent his entire life on the bachstretch.
many of those reporters that write about our tb, dont want to get their shoes muddy by walking thru the backstretch, so they doctor up there ghost writing by fooling the public, i have been working on the back side for 39 years, if u want to know about a tb, just ask me & i will get the info from the horses mouth, HEE HAW, louis.

Don't believe everything you read in the papers, but if you read it on an internet forum it has to be true.

Regardless of his feet, Louis, how can you imply that four starts and retired from a bow is an example of what we need for bringing more soundness into the breed? I mean, unless it was a bandage bow, which seems very unlikely from your description of CR's groom. I don't get the rationale here at all.
In any case, I like CR's progeny too, so I wish him well.

cr pedigree reads outcross, we need more quality oc stalliions like cr to cross with those fashion-bred ph. sire-line mares, cr will be bred to 150 mares this spring, as the phone is still ringing from breeders who want a piece of cr to add soundness to their breeding program. go candy go, its your turn to make headlines.

So you are not going to respnd to prfsue's point about CR's patent lack of exhibited soundess, Louis? What a p*tz!

Actually Worksoplad, Louis is not a putz. He is a kind and caring gentleman who does believe strongly in what he has researched and published and believes to be very true. And in that light, he did answer the question asked of him. AS his belief in breeding for soundness revolves around the out crossing and lack of certain horses in mass proportions in a pedigree.
Which Lou, sort of does raise a question as to the theory of the over saturated with Phalaris and the "soundness" of Candy Ride and his here and up coming off spring. He had some significant "problems." How is his pedigree then explained as a needed contributor to soundness as a flaw already exists?
WSP, perhaps kindness will get more of a response than name calling. Just a thought.
