Boy, what a race! Ten of the 13 are, or were, on my Derby watch list! I'd say that the person who hits this exacta or tri will be smiling all the way to the bank! What would be your picks?

on paper, not a lot of pace. Maybe someone can steal it on the front end.

Flying Pegasus finished ahead of Friesan Fire in the Futurity with a good Beyer.

That link was truncated. Here's the full address: http://www.kentuckyderby.com/2009/sites/kentuckyderby.com/files/risenstarpps.pdf

My pick is Indygo Mountain. I'm willing to forgive that last race, and I think he might offer a bit of value.

After nailing the Hutcheson with a fairly chalky exacta, I'm going for a BIG price here.

I really like Summer's Empire who has turned it around big time with the addition of lasix and the move to dirt. He has proved he can close into a very slow pace or lay off it and come with a rush and his pedigree suggests he should continue to get better the longer they go. I'm willing to chalk up the slow fig in his last on him not liking the sealed track or a bounce (or maybe a bit of both), bottom line he still won it though. I think he will run big here.

I will put him on top of Indygo Mountain who had a rough go of it last time, Giant Oak and Fresian Fire who both seem pretty logical. In the tri I will also toss in Uno Mas and Dumar, who Brigemo left UM to ride.

good luck all

Hi All

My current Derby choice Friesan Fire (see Kentucky Derby thread) looked good winning the Risen Star today. I think he will be even better going longer.

Nice race. I liked Flying Pegasus in this one and he ran well. Does Freisan Fire's stride look funny? His front right leg seems to flare out. Regardless it doesn't get in the way.
