All that being said, I did buy out of the yearking sale here last year specifically for this race. I looked only at colts and only at horses born no later than mid-Feb. I walked and worked the barns like someone buying 10 head, instead of 1 or 2! I am very, very picky, lol. The other colt I bought for the owner (an "If you have $ left over, get me another one" purchase) just got turned back out to grow up and never even breezed. Funny thing, I don't run fillies against boys (even though many say they mature earlier, I don;t do it) so wouldn;t even pull a filly out, yet out of 10 qualifiers for the Futurity this year 7 are fillies!

2Yr Old Running in June, Oh My!
Well, it has finally happened - I ran a 2 yr old in June! I am not a good 2yr old trainer, tend to want to turn 'em out. If I get one to the races in October, I consider it precocious, yet I ran a gelding that I love on June 5th to qualify him for a Futurity. He ran 2nd, qualified, and barely drew a deep breath doing it. I really believe he can win the daggone Futurity in a few weeks. Kinda scary....
