I just watched all of Zenyattas races and Rachel Alexandras races. Zenyatta ALWAYS stays at the back of the back, Rachel is right with them, front or back. She is definatly the HOA. I wasn't sure until I watched the races, but Rachel has my vote.

I'm new at this, but does anybody realize that Rachel tackled and beat the older guys? She's 3YO and not 5YO. I was SO impressed with ZENYATTA I cried, but she's still 5YO. Zenyatta did NOT tackle the boys at 3 YO. Come on....

it's my opinion...and my opinion only. Even if I'm a newby. Except that I was a groom, ponygirl, exerciser rider, mariied to a trainer for 10 years.

I think it's the correct opinion

I was joking more than anything else with the post. both are very deserving of the HOY award but I do lean towards rachael. I was taking a pot shot at the 5 page HOY post.

RA has won enough and Zenyatta has proven enough..not particularly concerned if it must go the way of a joint decision.

Zenyatta got twice classic trophy and that won my vote..on top of that her flawless career record is the straw for winning
title.

RA was born at a wrong time..one year too soon.

Btw...what a horse's racing "habbit" has got to do with title ? 70% of that is human own design ?

It's a shame both RA and Z chose to have their tremendous seasons the same year. But no one will ever convincing me RA is the better horse. Z is undefeated and arguably never fully extended. She is an absolute physical specimen; so competitive that if necessary will throw a 22 3/5 second last quarter that no mortal horse can withstand. She is a beast...

RA hands down...22 and change early 1/4 and still there v. older boys at the end. She is going to be a superfreak next year, I can't wait!!!

HOY

Postby jagger » Sun Nov 15, 2009 6:54 am

Not sure what criteria are used in voting for HOY. It is possible that ONLY this years races are being judged. In which case, Zenyatta's perfect record and last year's Ladies Classic win may not be considered. If only this year's races are considered, I give a very slight edge to Rachel. Who wins a match race at 1 1/4............ZENYATTA!!!!

A special moment requires special treatment..this year is exceptional...popularity, social pressure and
buzz are all congenial to the 5 yo's camp. Sad for RA.
