didn't you know that zenyatta's classic win was the greatest moment in sports history?

For me anyway Zenyatta's win was the best moment in Breeders Cup racing so far........

She did what no other mare has done and won the classic.

Some Americans might not appreciate her becuase she doesn't run the first quarter in 22, she is not speed but pure class.

Listen to the interview John Gosden did with HRTV last week, he was saying how horses are trained, everywhere else bar in the US, to run the last quarter faster than the first, to win quickening up off a pace, he calls it class.

i saw that.

I don't think it's necessarily better. it's just different.

in fact, and excuse my langauge, but if you loo at racing across the world european racing is ass backwards.

european racing is theo nly racing in the world where they do not keep internal fractions on a race.

The europeans act all high and mighty like they do things better and they go everywhere and for the most part get smoked in the game they pretty much invented becuase they are stuck on old ideas.

for all their superior racing, how often do euros outside their land and beat other horses running their style of racing? since 2001 by my count euros have won 2 sheema classics (with the south americans, the japanese and godolphin taking the rest) and 1 duty free, both 2 of the biggest turf races in the world with 2 5 million dollar purses. I can' tthink of the last time a euro won the melborne cup. A euro has not won the japan cup since 1997 and the only reason they come over here and beat us at our game is becuase we aren't good at it (turf). If we gave half a damn about turf as we do about dirt racing the euros woudlnt' bother coming over for the most part, we'd own them. just like for the most part, the more highly regarded ones dont' botehr going to the big dubai races. they have no shot and they know it.

you think the euros are tough? let me put in perspective how good a mare like vodka is. she ran a full second faster than our breeders cup winner did and did so without a horse setting sucidal fractions (precious passion running 1:09 6F)

just becuase the euros define "class" a certain way doesn't mean it's class. they can stay in their little corner of the world and watch horse racing pass by for all I care.

Remember, Time Magazine is not a racing - or even a sports - publication. Most non-racing fans are only aware of the Triple Crown, so Rachel's race would be far more likely to catch Time's attention than ANY BC race.

Zenyatta's Classic was more impressive - heck, some of Rachel's other starts were more impressive than her Preakness - but the folks at Time probably never saw them.

I didn't intend to make this yet another RA vs. Z post. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

I just love to see racing recognized in the mainstream media when the story is a positive one.

No offence..it is in fact not trained on these 2 wonder ladies..either one...it is only critical of the journalist
professionalism.
