Our Derby Picks

Postby oliverstoned » Sun Apr 25, 2010 6:17 pm

I'm going to go with Paddy O'Prado, I'll get good odds and hope he takes to the dirt like Medaglia D'Oro did. I'll also grab numbers out of a hat and see if I can win one of those obscene pick four payouts.

I'm going with Stately Victor. I liked the style of his winning Bluegrass stakes run, and his previous races are solid. His pedigree shouts out to me, too.

Wow, no one has mentioned Lookin At Lucky yet, so I'll go w/ the new favorite over Icebox, American Lion, & Paddy O'Prado....

I reserve the right to change my mind until 1 minute before post!

Hey LB, maybe we should partner on a Superfecta part wheel box?

We surely have a better chance of winning that than winning Powerball!

I always wait for the track conditions of the day of the race -- Lookin at Lucky is lookin possible if it keeps raining...

Sad to say, I don't even know what that is. I'm not much of a bettor. I figure I gamble enough just running my own horses.

I'm all over Ice Box to win, but I'll be over the moon if Endorsement can pull it off. History will be made!

Lookin' at Lucky terrifies me.

All this will probably change at least 50 times before post time.

Had a little windfall with Bayern Munich getting into the Champions League final last night backed them e/w @ 40/1 so with that....

I have taken the plunge on Dublin at 16/1.

In his last race it looked like the jock wasn't trying overly hard, lets hope they have kept him for the big dance.

Well, Endorsement is out, and I'm crushed. First change of the 50 I anticipated in my original selections. Still sticking with Ice Box and Paddy O'Prado, putting Lookin' at Lucky in.

I'm so disappointed on Shannon Ritter's behalf. She's from St. Paul (where I live), and I thought her a good rider when she rode at Canterbury Park 20+ years ago. This has to be the biggest letdown. Big trainers will get big horses again at some point, but the likelihood of Shannon coming up with a Derby contender any time soon is remote. Sigh.....

Well, I took Super Saver at 35/1 back in December, so my 20 bucks becomes 700 if he manages to pull it off. I think that makes him my pick. Borel's riding like he owns the place (as usual) so I'm hoping he can keep it going!
