What's with this apprentice? According to the Racing Form, he has amassed 63 days of unserved penalty days for 6 infractions since May, including 30 days for having a prohibited item upon weighing out. Is he just flagrant (grabbing the reins of another jockey?) or is he being picked on? Seems to me that as an apprentice he would want to be extra careful after the first infraction. It would make a trainer/owner leery of wanting to use him. Sour grapes from others or just carelessness/flagrant/willful on Reyes' part?

All the Stewards notes are available at the CHRB website under Stewards Minutes. Here's a link:

Hi Swaps,
You might find this article of interest.....Reyes is mentioned briefly, but it also shows how riders are circumventing their suspensions while they work the clock via the court system. In my opinion Stewards have created this with their new interpretation of riding fouls......seems they've added their own spin, "well the horses would have won anyway, and it didn't look like it cost the other horse a money spot"....that's not how it works. They are supposed to crack down on unsafe riding practices and strongly reprimand and punish that rider so it doesn't happen again. The more passes they give a rider, the more he will take chances till someone gets hurt out there....a foul is black and white and the stewards have turned it into gray. TJ
