Racing was canceled at Hollywood Park today after a downpour caused dirt to run onto the track from the backside, from the two gaps leading from the barn area onto the track. That area flooded, the dirt was a little heavier than the synthetic, and it was a big gooey mess. The jockeys pronounced it unsafe as well.
Wild weather in SoCal the last couple of weeks. 113 degree temps to lightening, hail, torrential downpours, mudslides, and floods.

Yah weather has been insane. 113 would not necessarily be out of the ordinary for the inland areas during july, but even the beaches we're over 106 which I have NEVER heard of after growing up here. Then two days later we had severe lightening and thunder storms with thunder that shook the entire buildings and over 2000 lightening bolts that struck just San Diego county alone!
