La Course Oublie - US$ 2,000,000 Canadian Int Stakes ?

Remember this international turf event - Win And You Are In Race -- BC Turf ? This year it will be held on 16 Oct in Woodbine.

Since the Emirates world series racing championship ceased after the last race in Hong Kong, this race seems to be forgotten mostly
and disappears off radar screen with very little coverage or publicity. A far cry from the hey day.

20 odd horses are on the nomination list as at end September. Many are raiders from Europe, Few have run in the Ladbrokes
St Leger (15f) including : Arctic Cosmos (winner, 1&3/4l), Midas Touch (2nd), Corsica (3rd) and Joshua Tree (5th).

Midas Touch ran 17th in the Arc, miles behind Workforce. Godolphin's Cavalryman is nominated. This Halling's 4 yo was winless so far
this year but his front running style gave him a reasonable 7l 7th in the Arc few days ago.

Redwood, High Chaparral's 4 yo colt, conquered the Canadian Northern Dancer Stakes (12f) earlier. He too is expected to run. He
is now 2 1 2 1 in his most recent outings.

Also on the list : Fifty Proof (1/2l 2nd to Redwood in the Northern Dancer), Winchester (winner of the 12f turf classic invitational),
Profound Beauty (Danehill's 6 yo, 3/4l 2nd in Irish St Leger), Flying Cross (Sadler's Wells 3yo, 2& 1/2l 3rd in Irish St Leger),
Kite Wood (22l 7th in Irish St Leger).

Profound Beauty is headed to Melbourne. Really wanted to see her run in Toronto. :(

Top favorite is Redwood, followed by Chinchon and Al Khali.

Al Khali, Médaglia DÓro's 4 year old colt, is trained by William Mott. He romped home in his last start, the G2 11f Bowling Green Handicap,
at Belmont. He came in 3rd in the G1 12f sword dancer in August (beaten by 2&3/4l).

Chinchon's sire, Marju, is prolific but not so often referred to, of course relatively, in racing. Chinchon won the G1 11f UN in July. But two
months later in the G2 Prix Foy (12f) at Longchamp, she finished 6 lengths behind the winner and found no one behind her. Marju's
money-wise top progeny is noneotherthan the 1999 HK Horse Of The Year, Indigenous. Although Indigenous ran 1&1/2l 2nd in the
year's Japan Cup to the local favorite, Special Week, he did beat the 1998 UK Derby winner, High Rise, by a nose in that race. High
Rise was ruled 3rd.

Joshua Tree captured Canadian International...very tight in the photo area..1st 6 horses within 1&3/8 lengths..one of the
closest finisih in history I think...even if that happens in a dash event I would be dazed too..but this is a 10f race.

Race favorite Redwood finished 3rd by a nose & a head behind winner. 2nd is Mores Wells. Al Khali 4th. Chinchon 6th.
