Tiz Blessed

I was looking at Tiz Blessed after his Display S. win at Woodbine and noticed he'd had trouble in the Garden State S. at Monmouth where Astrology was 3rd. It's not showing up on Astrology's info, and there was a race last run in the '90s which appeared to feature horses like Secretariat back in the day.

I assume this is the same race correct? Did they just bring it back this year or are there previous runnings we're missing in the database?

Importantly, of course, how'd Tiz Blessed look in the Garden State and the Display S.? Did he run like a horse capable of a 5 1/2 length stakes win in the future and just got into trouble, or was his first synthetic try the key? He sure looked nice in the picture I saw, but I haven't seen either race yet.

Hi Heidi,
It's two different races. The race won by Tiz is the Display Stake for 2YO's.
The Display Handicap for 3YO's and up was run in NY and it was a year end distance marathon over the Aqueduct course. It was noted for being the longest race run in North America 2 1/4 miles. It was run for the last time in 1990.
Here is a snipit of the Garden State chart concerning Tiz' trouble.....Astrology raced four wide early, stalked three wide, bid three wide on the turn and weakened. Tiz Blessed was squeezed and then stumbled badly soon after the start, saved ground off the pace, raced three wide on the turn and weakened.
