wow. that is a horse race. in races this deep I tend to like horses that have been in a few fist fights, so I am leaning towards manicero

Aaww guys, y'all are really opening the beers at the bar debate when you both (bdw & Derby2004) say the Hutch is a better race than the FOY! OK I'll bite a little bit...
Soldat may have won in the slop, but he won by 10+....a few years ago another grassy pedigreed colt won impressively in the slop and was discounted because of the slop & his pedigree - Barbaro.
I love the way To Honor And Serve moves - that big swinging flatkneed stride just looks like he'll go forever. I worry that he will be too fresh and that his natural speed has not allowed them to teach him how to rate. I do think he is an exceptionally talented horse. I won't bet him for these reasons but would love to see him rate just off the early speed...if he does he will be my number 1 Derby Horse.
Shackleford is the wild card - could be brilliant but they are sure throwing him to the wolves.
Gourmet Dinner is solid and honest, but that last 1/16thmay be more than he wants.
I'm gonna have a drink and wait for y'all's response

A difference of opinion is what makes horse racing and missionaries.

Honestly it's not a slight against the FOY.. this (Hutchinson) should be a grade 1 race. this is a very very very very deep race. This race by the end of the year will produce more graded stakes winners than any other race outside the kentucky derby, mark my words. Travlin man, manicro, flashpoint, little drama, can all freaking run at a high, high level.da hossman wrote:Aaww guys, y'all are really opening the beers at the bar debate when you both (bdw & Derby2004) say the Hutch is a better race than the FOY! Dutrow presented a pretty nice horse yesterday at Aqueduct in Flashpoint. This one might have distance limitations but he demolished in his first start going three quarters.
Hi Z,
They stuck Flashpoint in a van and he's on his way to Gulfstream for the 7 furlong GRII Hutchenson Feb. 26th. TJ

The DAY flashpoint ran, I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember I said to myself "oh there is a nice little maiden race at aqueduct" it went off at 12:25 my time, and i remember I was half watching it, becuase I was watching the arknasas v. alabama basketball pre game. should have paid more attention. that's a freak.

I said going into the race if either of the big two won they would earn my respect and soldat, while I don't think he was AS impressive, was impressive enough for me to take him seriously. He runs that a horse that will have no probelm at all with 10F even though has tactical speed. Even better, if the dirt doesn't work out he just might be better on turf

Also, I was quite disappointed about Nordic truces lackluster performances. That's one of my fav horses in training and I was somewhat taken by suprise when he took the lead, didn't too much agree with that tactic, and when he didn't have anything in the stretch I was sad
. He's better than that. I don't know why they tried to swtich up styles with him, keep him going a mile and let him run from the clouds.
