5. runflatout/albergatti- you can cast both of these in the same net. Both have talent. But both are good welterweights, being throw into the ring with light heavyweights after showing a little bit of talent. thrown to the wolves way too fast and in run flat out's case there is nothing about the horse that says derby at all.
4. elite alex - it was clear to me.. in reality, after the southewest stakes, this horse just wasn't that good. I jumped off the bandwagon. I am sure it was clear to everyone else too but they kept going back to the well for more. It's the blinkers, no it's the running style no he had a bad trip.. no, here is the truth, the HORSE IS JUST SLOW. Put him in the queen's plate where he belongs.
3. sway away - they should have started on him earlier than they did, and what really peeves me, while I like pval and I think he is a top rider.. why bring him all the way in from socal to ride a to oaklawn? That makes no sense to me.
there is no situation where a horse with this much talent, one of the only horses to break the 3 digit Beyers this year, to not have enough money to get into the derby. regardless if he is a derby horse or not is u pfor debate, but to not even have the option to go? that means, IMHO you managed him wrong.l you should have stayed in socal instead of going to oaklawn as well. how the trainer can get twice the freakign appeal in the derby and not sway away is beyond me
2. santiva - I don't even know where to start. 5 different tracks, 4 different jockeys, 3 different trainers, 2 different surfaces, and a partridge and a pair tree.
1. uncle mo- Pletcher, made the biggest mistake of all. He started to read his own press clippings. He actually believed, th this year was different. He honestly believed, that mo was the best horse since seattle slew and all he had to do was get him into the gates and that he would win the derby if not triple crown. it's all in the way the horse was managed. He honestly believed, the gap was that big between his horse and the rest, and while it was at one point honestly, he believed, that it would stay that way until may. He believed that he could get a horse to run 10F race, off 2 Bullcrap preps, and he left the horse so short that he couldn't even do that.
Pletcher tops the list, because his horse, had that talent. was that good. and he screwed it up by not training the horse. He thought he was a horse pointer, you know a guy who points horses towards races, or a communications director, the guy who tells everyone how great his horse is, and forgot to train the horse.
