Pimlico

Postby bdw0617 » Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:27 am

am I exaggerating when I say it has rained every last day of the pimlico meet? IF I am it's not by much. is this normal? I have been trying to play the turf races but they keep getting rained off.

April has been truly the cruelest month for turf barns so far, as well as those who like to play full field turf races! It's pouring again here in the MidAtlantic today.
If you need an option while Pimlico's drying out, keep an eye out later this week for the Atlantic City simulcast. 6 races a day, nice full fields (12) in every heat, starting Thursday.
The AC turf course actually drains fairly well given its sandy base, so they'll run on it regardless.
:D

I hope you got to handicap there today especially race 3. lmao.... the 7 horse was my sentimental favorite haha....but it delighted me to see the 8 year old second time starter on NO MEDS (listed) get it done!!!!
Trifecta would have been sweet.........dreamin.......

That horse won a point to point race recently and I know a few people who cashed very nicely on him today.

The turf course is a bog right now, whenever they get a few days to dry out they are followed by downpours. I would be shocked if it dries out by then end of the meet. I've got one to run on it Preakness Day and I'm doubting I'll get firm turf.

No heading North, I almost sent a small string there last year, but the small purses and heat are 2 major detractors. One of my good friends is heading there, he has Alberto Delgados book and the new bug girl Sarah Rook (who won in her first start for Dickie Small last week).

Very good company, she is pretty polished too for a 10lb bug. Obviously with every new rider there are things to work on, but she has the ability to be a very good rider and she also has a great attitude.

Rosie N. actually mentioned all that when they did the pre-race interview with her. I don't know about Dickie, but I'd been darn proud in that moment. I really like Rook too, would have her to ride my filly but damn that no turf til 5 starts rule!! Still all worked out, only mine did not get the place to pay her mommy lots and lots of money on the exacta. But I'm still proud of her. :D

Ya that turf rule is odd. Even more funny as they ran the amateur race (that Sarah rode) on the grass. Your filly ran well and Bobby always tries hard on anything he gets put on. He picked up one for me this winter and brought her home 2nd at 45-1.
