With less that 2 weeks to go many are assembling at CD to get their final preparation for the Derby over that track. Yesterday, Shakleford (on the bubble, but looking good to get a spot) worked a fast 5/8ths in the slop...... http://www.drf.com/news/kentucky-derby- ... hackleford
This morning Mucho Macho Man worked another 7/8ths....but just an easy maintenance breeze over another sloppy oval at CD, going 1:29.40 with jockey Rajiv Maragh. Another interesting move was put in by Stay Thirsty working 5/8ths in the CD slop in 59.92.....what made that move especially interesting is that Calvin Borel was on board....maybe he found his Derby mount?? Uncle Mo had an energetic 1 1/2 mile gallop as Nehro romped 5/8th's in the slop. I was thinking Mo wouldn't be ready for the Derby after all that's gone on.....but after reading this...I have to think Mo may just be OK, or why else would he be out there training in heavy rain and lightning? He has a scheduled work tomorrow, Tuesday with older graded stakes winner, Calibrachoa.....expect something fast, Calibrachoa won the GR III Tom Fool and Toboggan in his last two starts.....both at 6 furlongs. Uncle Mo's work in company went off without a hitch....nothing spectacular, but pretty much just what the doctor ordered after being off his feed and on antibiotics. Expect a fast 1/2 mile next week from him if his plans to make the Derby are still intact.

Santiva and Midnight Interlude worked after the renovation break....which was marred with the breakdown of a Baffert filly, Gilded Gem who worked in company with Plum Pretty during the Derby-Oaks training session. TJ

Here's some good news....Dialed In and Soldat are scheduled to fly to Louisville on Saturday on the same plane, so they can discuss their race strategy:>) Once they arrive next will be Toby's Corner who is due to arrive on Monday from the Fairhill Training Center in Md. Then on Tuesday, Twinspired will van over a few miles from the nearby Trackside training center....also expected Tuesday are Comma to the Top from California, and Master of Hounds from Ireland. So if all goes well, come Tuesday night, all the Derby contender's will be bedded down at Churchill Downs waiting for their big day. TJ
Animal Kingdom, Shakleford, and Mucho Macho Man all had serious moves after the renovation break and during the time allotted for Derby and Oaks nominee's to train. Twinspired worked at the Trackside Training Center and Twice the Appeal also worked at CD much earlier with Calvin Borel in the irons going splits of 13.57 seconds, 26.19, 38.46, 50.54 and 1:02.80. Twice the Appeal continued to gallop out willingly all the way around the turn and pulled up a mile in 1:43.36. Read about the other works below....you know, none of this is making picking the Derby winner any easier:>) TJ

Pants on Fire and watch me go were scheduled to work this AM as well....it's been postponed till Sunday....why would they put off a work over a good track this AM and opt for tomorrow? Mo and Stay Thirsty will breeze as scheduled tomorrow. Then Monday will have Midnight Interlude, Nehro and possibly Santiva who will work either Monday or Tuesday. I think that should do it....any one else not mentioned? TJ
