Ventana--son of Toccet

Postby Toccet02 » Tue May 24, 2011 10:55 am

Yes, of course I am biased, but I just got to watch the Versus Preakness day coverage I DVRed...and WOW, he is a massive, game monster. Earned $366,002 now (and his record is locked and needs to be updated to 19 4-4-3 and amt. above, BTW)
He's a 5 year old. Very consistent. My fantasy stable has at least three 5YOs by T who are still running often, since early in 2YO year, and earning, albeit at claiming levels now. Is Toccet siring sound runners that we need in this game?

Might this get Toccet some more interest? Was he banished to PA for 3.5K too early?
Could Ventana make it as a regional stallion?

"Ventana"! Wow, what a curious name for an animal, let alone for a Thoroughbred.
“Ventana” is the Spanish word for “window”.
Unless there is an interesting town somewhere named “Ventana”,
it’s an atypical name.

By the way, I am under the impression you may well be a fan of Toccet

A "VENTANA" toss!
Interestingly enough, there is something about the name "Ventana".
There are at least seven horses with that name. See for yourself!

VENTANA (USA) (1946)
VENTANA (USA) (2006) [subject case]
VENTANA (2002)
VENTANA (ARG) (1941)
VENTANA (USA) (1982)
VENTANA (IRE) (2005)
VENTANA (BRZ) (2007)

He's a big guy. Toccet's best horse thus far? I always make it a point to watch any Toccet's that are running. I think he's a better than average stallion. Wondering if there is a skewed opinion of his offspring because they are all seemingly plain bay types. Perhaps that is my perception only.

I had heard that many were plain ugly as weanlings and yearlings. On average they look fine to me. But yes Jorge, I'm a big fan and I hope he does well. 8)
Glad you look out for them Zinn... me too! Jimmy Vegas is a good one--a gray!

Did a search on Toccet’s best progeny based on their earnings (see the list below) and found out that not a single one of those crosses were repeated in order to achive a full brother or sister to the names listed below. Alas that's the case, for achieving a full brother or sister may help a lot to “toss” Toccet's probabilities of achieving more decent runners.

Seems like Toccet has been placed on the niche of "one-turn-at-the-batting-cage". Hey, judging by his photo he looks great.

LA ROCCA2 ($359,049)
AWESOME RHYTHM ($344,595)
VENTANA2 ($306,002)
WINNING MACHINE ($288,151)
HYPERLINK ($192,060)
DUBINSKY ($162,790)
JIMMY VEGAS ($134,994)
TWOFORMEONEFORYOU ($117,869)
TOCCET TO ME ($112,979)
TOCCETS CHARM ($110,205)

(p.s. Somehow your interest in him makes me remember the sire of a horse named Con Juan (2004) , who represents perhaps the last available surviving gray-tail-male-lineage by the great Native Dancer. Well... that's another story!)
