Just about the only thing I miss about living in the Albany area, where I lived for 11 years back in the late 1980s/1990s, is being able to visit Saratoga Race Track with regularity every August.
If you have never been to Saratoga, you need to experience it. It's a great vacation spot for anybody who's interested in horses (racing, polo, etc) or history (Saratoga National Battlefield, National Museum of Racing, Canfield Casino, etc) or even hiking (Adirondaks).
