Indian Tale-4 starts at Saratoga since 7 August

Postby Bast » Fri Aug 19, 2011 2:14 pm

It's true. The 3 y o filly Indian Tale has started 4 times since 7 August:

7 Aug 2nd-allowance optional claiming
11 Aug 1st-claiming
15 Aug 2nd-allowance
18 Aug 9th-starter allowance

In her last start, she wanted nothing to do with running, and trailed the field.

The really intriguing thing is that on August 7, JW Singer LLC (trainer Rick Dutrow) claims Indian Tale away from Flying Zee Stable (trainer Carlos Martin) and then proceeds to run her to this 4 times in 11 days schedule, which surely doesn't look like in the best interest of the horse. And then, yesterday, the selfsame JW Singer LLC outfit claims Coljak away from - again - Flying Zee Stable (trainer Carlos Martin). Be interesting to see what's next.

The plot thickens. She did run well in the first 3 of those 4 starts.

I noticed that Louis had a comment about her this morning at pedigree analysis, and as usual he does not tell the whole story. This filly was bumped out of the gate and steadied by the jock at the start and never recovered. This was a race on the turf and she did not do well in her only other attempt on the green. Dutrow does this type of thing with some of his horses and I think she may be worth a bet next time out. She did not run much in her last but was not asked to by the jock after the bumping. In my opinion, her breeding had very little to do with her poor showing.

Louis selectively omits whatever does not fit his fantasies. The truth is that the filly had run 3 very good races spaced 3-4 days apart, and if anything, with her breeding refutes his "theory".

Outrageous...poor girl...maybe the drunken singer hated her, her brother, her father or even her grandfather in law.

I raced one of my Arabs twice in one day, and she lived through the experience, but it's not something I'd recommend.

If it runs two short meter in one day..IMO its ok unless it occurs as a habitual routine...for a 3 yr +....no problem
to drive her 2400..or "equivalently" 1200 in each half day.

Both races were well under 1600 meters.

I started her twice mostly for her to gain experience running in a race with other horses; there were very few Arabian races available anywhere. This was very bush league stuff with a walk-up start run on the turf on the Fair Hill turf course but not over the hurdles.

Hurdlers and Hunters usually race late (4 & above) and past the normal retirement age (6 & above) of flat racers...some of them
do so at their owners' bidding....other reason I guess is bcos their legs get stronger as they get older ?
