PID Serious route races of late

Postby Toccet02 » Sat Oct 01, 2011 6:51 pm

I noticed that Presque isle has run Starter Allowances at 2 miles, 2 and an eighth miles, and two and a quarter miles this late summer/fall.

Pretty unusual, no? And a good thing, I think.

The tracks around here like Mountaineer,Beulah,Thistledown and now Presque Isle have historically carded long races in the fall, usually as part of a series. The Presque Isle Starter series began going a mile and 5 eighths for $31,000 ,and they increased the purse by $10,000 every time it renewed and became longer until the finale last night for $71,000. I personally love them and have had a few horses over the years that would have prospered ,would that I had one now. I ran 3rd in one leg this year but scratched from last night as it was way too tough.

I figured it was part of a series but could find no press about it on their site. They should shout to the rooftops that Tbreds can be marathoners too.
