I know this should probably go in the international racing thread but his victory today was awesome.
To have won the same grade 1 race for the 4th time 6 years after he first did and at the age of 11 is simply awesome. It is why I love National Hunt racing more than flat as the same horses can come back year after year without the worry of them being shuffled off to stallion duty.
What I hope it now leads to is a wonder race of Kauto Star, Long Run and Masterminded at Kempton on Boxing Day if Clive Smith is prepared to run his 2 superstar race horses against each other.

Carlo I absolutely love National Hunt racing over the hurdles and fences of steeplechase courses. It gets a bad name from the humane societies but generally the races are injury-free contests and even when there are fallers in a race you can see them get up and keep jumping alongside the other horses although they are riderless. As a kid I would hate the start of the "Flat" season in spring as it was boring to me but once the big races came along then I got into it more. If anyone wants to see great racing then visit youtube and watch the finish of the 1989 Cheltenham Gold Cup or the entire race of this year's Gold Cup at The Cheltenham Festival, a meet that should be on every racegoer's "bucket list". Three of the best "Chasers ever ,including he mighty Kauto Star were together over the last two flights and when the race was over they galloped out uphill and "nuzzled" each other pulling up like an equine version of a pat on the back. Great stuff! Oh and by the way for the USA READERS, Kauto Star has the magnificent Mill Reef on both sides of his pedigree.
