"In a blog post, Dr. Kendall Hansen, the breeder and majority owner of champion Hansen, proposes allowing racing fans to choose the color that the ethereal-looking colt’s mane and tail would be dyed for upcoming races. In his next race, Hansen will have a bright blue tail and blue/yellow mane to match his silks.
If this is as fun and popular as I hope it will be,” writes Hansen “,…..perhaps for the KENTUCKY DERBY we will let FANS CHOOSE the COLOR.”

.Until you get the tree huggers seeing this and get their panties in a knot because they assume the dye used is not safe for animals and/or will humiliate the animal, like the horse can tell the difference.
Like the people that dyed their poodles way back when, I remember a huge out cry of tree huggers making an issue of this.
Just one more thing for them to b*#^h about.
Just saying

Lawd, if I had a nickle for every dyed dog I see in Indianapolis on a weekly basis, I'd be a millionaire. I don't remember the specifics, but the dog dye nowadays is non-toxic. It's also not guaranteed to come out of the fur of light-colored dogs. Hope Hansen's beautician has a plan in case he stays blue-tailed.
I don't think it should be allowed. If it were, what would stop trainers from going further and changing markings? In my opinion, the bottom line is that the horse would no longer match the description on its registration papers and would not be permitted to race.
If I were an owner and this was done to my horse I would be so stark raving mad it's just beyond description. That is NOT the win picture I want on my wall - my beautiful horse tricked out like my little pony..

Heh, I would TOTALLY trick a horse out like that one from the Simpsons, if I could. Complete with black leather, studs, piercings, tattoos....oh, hey, wait a minute.....

I agree. If they want the horse to be colorful, then braid his mane and tail. Geez.
