Absolutely marvellous Derrick, this horse is coming around at the right time for the long turf series that SA has in the spring. To breed, raise and race a horse like this is no small accomplishment and I love the dam's side of the pedigree with Kenmare, Luthier and the stamina laden Busted'. I also love the way he can control his own destiny in front. It's a must-watch for me and I rarely get enthused these days to watch much at all. I used to hang out with Gallagher in his days with John Sullivan so I will be rooting for both of you. Even if luck avoids you then I really feel that it will only be a matter of time. All the very best.

Thanks, Wilf. Paddy has done a great job with this horse. Late developer, big rangy gelding, with lots of niggly problems but he is at the top of his game right now. His works have been tremendous, and there was no race for him to run between the January race and now, so he is just coming into his own for the Hollywood Park turf series. Bourbon Bay is the one to beat, I reckon.

When I lived and worked in LA Santa Anita's trio of turf "Sans" were among my favorite races. Best of luck in this one on Sunday and presumably in the subsequent San Juan Capistrano for which Hog's Hollow would also seem to be suitably bred.

Thanks Patuxet. Yes. The San Marcos came just a couple of weeks too soon for Hog's Hollow, but he does seem to gallop all day, so we would definitely go for the last one in the trio at 1 3/4 miles because they don't write many races on the grass that will suit his type of breeding in California..

Actually, Derrick, I was thinking of the 12-furlong Gr. II San Luis Obispo which SA annually carded in mid-February. Apparently for whatever reason it wasn't run this year.

Thanks all. I was away for a few days. Yes, I was very pleased by the fact that Hog's Hollow didn't give in easily after making the running and being passed coming into the straight. He held on for 3rd and only got beat a couple of lengths.
We are definitely going to enter for the San Juan Capistrao. Gomez said the horse would "run all day" whatever that means. Bourbon Bay will be a hot favorite though.
Hopefully, there will be someone other than us that wants the lead, because I think HH is better being saved for one late run.
