Suburban Handicap

Postby bdw0617 » Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:20 pm

i actually like the longest shot on the board in the suburban. endorsement ran his eyeballs out last out in the pimlcio special and it was his 2nd race back off about a what, i want to say a year off and he damn near took them gate to wire. third off a long layoff, stay thirsty hasn't won an open class race yet in his lfie and is 7/2 and Calxia Eletronica doesn't want to run this far. Hymm book won't win if it's not in Florida trickmeister just has to beat me which he has never done and just not really that big of a to honor and serve fan. I don't think he wants this group at 9F. he's a miler. I just do not think to honor and serve is a legit handicap horse. I think he's good enough to beat up on 2 turn horses that are not the same cut as he is but i don;'t think he's good enough to beat true handicap horses I think his best grade 1 distance is a mile.

I didn't even know MMM was running.. I thought he was the best handicap horse in training last winter. I guess their spacing his races to the BC Classic. Is the Suburban win and your in?

Hi Z,
Believe it or not it isn't...the Suburban carries no clout these days...but Game on Dude's win in the Hollywood Gold Cup today was a win and you're in the BC Classic. Also today The Smile Sprint Handicap winner Gantry earned a spot in the BC Sprint and Turbo Compressor, winner of the UN Handicap also gets a pass for the BC Turf. TJ

Wow I'm surprised. The Suburban is one of the most prestigious races in the country-I thought..

Hollywood on Poly

Postby stancaris » Mon Jul 09, 2012 3:09 pm

Why would the powers at be make the Hollywood Gold Cup a win and your in situation when in fact it is run over a polytrack surface whereas the Jockey Club Gold Cup is run on dirt and therefore more similar to the main track at Santa Anita which is a dirt surface?

Who knows. California at times has its collective mind working in very strange ways.

gold cup is a pretty big race. it should be a win and you are in and cushion is basically dirt.

I have more of a problem with the steven foster being a win and you are in than the gold cup. when i first started watching racing the stehpen foster was the first "big time" race i watched that was not on ESPN. 750k purse, saint liam. now it's a 300-400k after thought.

i do not believe a handicap division race that can't even put up a 500k purse deserves a win and you are in. Just my opinion.

Did anyone see the race? What happened to endorsement?

Prairie

Trickmeister set a brisk pace and Endorsement was 3rd at the first call, a couple lengths back and he was 4th at the half, then faded and ran out of gas. The first mile was 1:33 and change, race horse time. Nice final time for 9 furlongs, and the chart says the Macho Man won it with hand urging, which, in my opinion, means he probably could have ran faster if asked to by the jock. A very nice win.
