Any way to pay for streaming without gambling?

Postby Toccet02 » Mon Nov 26, 2012 5:03 pm

Time Warner Cable has NO horse racing programming where I am...and it's taking its toll. I looked into Twin Spires for the streaming--but one must bet a minimum of $50 per week, looks like.
No thanks. 2 kids and a mortgage and gambling $50 a week? Can't do it.
I know about Equibase replays, but keeping tabs on live goings on is my favorite. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Many of the tracks have live streaming on their websites. For starters, Parx, Woodbine, and Prairie Meadows come to mind. And all the CA tracks can be watched live on www.calracing.com You have to sign up but it's free.

Also, 8-10 tracks per day can be watched here: http://espn.go.com/horse/liveracing08.html

Again, you need to sign up but it's free.

That won't work with Twin Spires, Griff, but looks like I barely need that now.

DISH Network offers unlimited live feeds from ALL--I mean ALL--North American racetracks for $50 a month. I am not sure if this option is available outside of Kentucky, but it's sure worth a phone call. IMO this is far superior way to look at horses because, other than the actual race call, there aren't any irritating commentators to endure. The cameras are focused on the horses, not the people.

twinspires

Postby walaa » Wed Nov 28, 2012 5:21 pm

You are mistaken about twinspires. If you have problems opening an account just call them and talk in person, You can watch a certain time without opening an account. I had family members do it when our horses were racing. Also you can open an account for 25$, I had 3 friends do it to watch ours race, they have never bet a dime of it, yet they can log in to their account anytime, anywhere, and watch races all day long. There have been times , like now :D where my account balance is 0.00 for weeks and/or months, and you can ALWAYS log on and watch whatever you want. Once you join there is no minimum balance or betting amount to watch races. Also, as I mentioned, they have a special where you can watch for free for a certain time span, several family members do it every time our horses run, so they dont have to bother opening an account. Some of it can be confusing id you just go on-line and read the rules, you need to call and speak to them in person, they are evry helpful in getting you what you need:)

I think the way they are setup is that they give you a monthy allotment of free races then after that, you have to start wagering to watch. that's how xpressbet does it. but that allotment is pretty generous. i watch all my friday night aussie racing via xpressbet and never have an issue with it

I have had an account with TwinSpires for over two years, and I have never placed a bet! For a long, long time, I didn't even have an account with any money in it. I did put $50 into my account recently, but again, I have never been required to place a bet. I love TwinSpires. I also subscribe to HRTV online at a cost of $10/mo, which I find very reasonable. I oftentimes have both HRTV and TwinSpires open side by side on my computer, as I like the personalities on HRTV and enjoy their other content as well, but I also like the ability to watch races all over the world via TwinSpires. This is just my experience, but, I would try again with TwinSpires, as it is "free"!!!

Huh. Amazed at all that's available if you know where to look. Twin Spires posts much stricter rules officially---guess speaking to humans is always best.
Anyway I am happy and much more with it again thanks to all of you...gotta keep up my knowledge on the industry, since I am going to be an owner one of these days...that is my dream. I am NOT going to be an ignorant one.
