Hi bdw,
This is good news for Shanghai Bobby fans...they ran (2) mile and one eighth stakes both won by Pletcher and JV on or near the lead. Dreaming Of Julia had the same knock that Shanghai has...said she would have trouble going 1 1/8 miles. She romped and so might Shanghai.....no doubt a super speed bias going on at this 9F distance today at GP. TJ

Agree, bdw. The Belmont should be next for her after The Ky Oaks.

yeah. but DOJ is by AP Indy. I never had any real questions about her stretching out. Bobby on the other hand has to prove it to me

we will see shortly.

you would have to think though Oaks and belmont as millie suggested on HRTV

Hi bdw,
She is definitely going to the Oaks next. The thing about a bias....horses that normally won't get the distance will. This last 1 3/16ths mile stake the first three out of the gate went all the way....with JV winning another stake. I'd like to see Pletcher get the job done with his 2YO champ...he could use the money:>) TJ

A shame they underestimated her and had her in the wrong race. She may have been AP Indy's last best shot to get a Derby winner. Hindsight 20/20 I guess, but I'm disappointed just the same.

Looking at the pedigree I get it now. She's by AP Indy but her dam is a sprinter. If you are of the belief that stanima comes from the bottom I can see the knock on her.

Actually something to keep in mind if / when she stretches out to 12F she will get overbet beucase she's by AP Indy

Hi bdw,
The knock was not my opinion....it's been written by racing reporters during her career. Possibly because of her in and out performances going from amazing to ordinary. This last one was by far her most "amazing'. Yet will she follow with another such performance or will it be more ordinary? I always thought she performed like a horse that may not necessarily have distance limitations, but possibly physical or mental issues which compromised her ability to run long and put two strong races back to back going two turns. If it was either of these two things we will see a super performance once again from her in the Oaks, as she looked sound and all business in both her 3YO appearances around two turns. TJ

Hi Oliver,
How are you? She may have been underestimated....yet her past performance's over two turns, (up till yesterday) didn't give them the confidence to chase after the Roses. I doubt any of her connections expected her to do what she did yesterday. I'm sure they did expect her to turn the tables on Live Lively (with normal improvement after her layoff), but never beat her as easily as she did. Still, if she is going to be Rachel's replacement she should put in another big one in the Oaks. First Saturday in May, could be a great day for Pletcher and his crew:>) TJ

She's the best 3yo out there at the moment...

VERRAZANO and maybe ORB are better than Dreamin of Julia....who did each face? Any traffic issues to overcome? Any horses running alongside putting pressure on DOJ?

I thought ORB was impressive - not sure what to think of REVOLUTIONARY and MYLUTE...
A difference of opinion is what makes horse racing and missionaries.

As much as the Dreaming of Julia race impressed me everyone on this board knows that the Derby is unforgiving and not easily won , Julia is no Winning Colours and will fold under the pressure but there is no doubting her class. Bobby is going to have to regroup and perhaps Pletcher will make him another Flower Alley. All of this is exciting stuff and may the best horse win!
