Santa Anita 2014 BC Again

Postby TJ » Mon Jun 10, 2013 12:25 pm

The 2014 BC will be run once again at Santa Anita for the third consecutive year and the 5th time out of the last 7 years. Stronach was unable to have Gulfstream prepared to host the BC in 2014. I believe he will have GP set and ready for a BC bid by 2015. TJ

Hi Madelyn,
Looks as if the BC venue may be slightly biased from here on out. Breeder's Cup Chairman Tom Ludt resigned his position to become the new vice president of racing and gaming for Frank Stronach, while still holding a position as director on the Lexington Breeders Cup board. Seems like Stronach will have a "leg up" to get things done securing the BC at his venues. TJ

How boring. I remember how the BC was supposed to be hosted at a different track every year and now it seems like it found a permanent home.

Next up, shortening the Triple Crown races.

what is really killing the breeders cup is polytrack

woodbine, arlington, hollywood park maybe even, tracks that would have had legit shots at getting the BC just isn't happening. BC will never run over polytrack again that much i promise you it won't happen. it's too unhandicappable for that short a period.

so that leaves gulfstream which frank tore up the grandstand not enough room. the one time we had it at monmouth, which was my fav breeders cup BTW, God parted the red sea and pored all the water on the track, and just recently around that same time last year there was a hurricane. not happening

so that leaves really, 3 tracks

santa anita
churchilll
Belmont

Belmont has a gripe. Churchill got it 2 years in a row plus it's cold.

Fair Grounds is the track who i think could make a serious bid if they fixed that damn shitty turf course.

I bought tickets for this year 2 weeks ago. Next year at SA again? Great. Has anyone else got plans to come out?

Honestly I don't think anyone wants it or, if they do, they don't have the facilities. The BC is pretty demanding.
