Nearctic,Northern Dancer,Storm Bird sire lines win big today

Postby Keith » Sat Mar 19, 2005 6:34 pm

Rebel Stakes winner Greater Good is by Intidab-Gather The Clan by General Assembly. Intidab is by Phone Trick-Alqwani by Mr. Prospector Of Course General Assembly is by Secretariat-Exclusive Dancer by Native Dancer He is 4x4 Bold Ruler and 4x5 Native Dancer. Intidab is by Phone Trick who is by Clever Trick who is by Icecapade who is by Nearctic and out of Shenanigans by Native Dancer.

Tampa Bay Derby winner Sun King is by Charismatic-Clever But Costly by Clever Trick. Charismatic is by Summer Squall-Bali Babe by Drone. Summer Squall is by Storm Bird-Weekend Surprise by Secretariat Storm Bird is by Northern Dancer who is by Nearctic. Sun King is out of a Clever Trick mare. Clever Trick is by Icecapade who is by Nearctic. Sun King is 4x5 Nearctic, 5x5 Somethingroyal and 5x5 Bold Ruler.

Gotham Stakes winner Survivalist is by Danzig-Miner's Game by Mr. Prospector. He is from the Nearctic/Northern Dancer sire line. He is out of a full sister to Seeking the Gold and probably the best bred horse on the Derby Trail. He is 4x4 Native Dancer

San Felipe Stakes winner Consolidator is by Storm Cat-Good Example(Fr) by Crytal Glitters. Crystal Glitters is by Blushing Groom-Tales to Tell by Donut King. Storm Cat is by Storm Bird-Terlingua by Secretariat. He is 5x5 Nasrullah.

Two are by Elite stallions Danzig and Storm Cat. One is by Derby winner Charismatic and the other is by $3500 Stud fee Intidab who has had very few mares bred to him. Clever Trick and Storm Bird bloodlines did well today. Bold Ruler and Secretariat also have influence on the bloodlines of the winners today. Of course Mr. Prospector always seem to have some influence on classic winners and he is in the bloodlines of Greater Good and Survivalist. Native Dancer and Nearctic are in all of these bloodlines of the winners today.

Well I've been flamed before for saying this but one of my favorite crosses is Storm Bird over Icecapade. I have two good mares bred that way, so I'm glad to see that those lines did so well today. :)

I have been talking about Survivalist for some time now and I am pulling for him big time. I have his full brother Polish Gift here in Washington. He is in his second year at stud. We are doing very well with him and I know Survivalist will only help. He ran a very impressive race in the Gotham today. He really had to go wide and run down some nice horses and then he looked like he was running away with it. He should run up the board with that effort. What does everyone else think?

Hi Keith,

Do you have any ideas as to why Greater Good is so good?

What parts of his pedigree have provided his brilliance?

You may be able to prove some of my theories

I love your North and South American blood.

Cheers

No flames here - I wholeheartedly agree w/ you about the cross w/ Icecapade under his 3/4 nephew Storm Bird. Unfortunately, I don't have anything bred on that cross, tho'. Would love to hear more about your mares.

Evidence that the cross works w/ Icecapade on top (and my he's a big, good-looking, boy!).

Pan Zareta, one of the mares is a broodmare and the other is a 3YO at the track. Both are in this database. They are:

Tricky Bird, by Storm Bird out of Tricky Squaw by Clever Trick (by Icecapade)

Timeless Forest, by Forestry (by Storm Cat by Storm Bird) out of Biding Time (out of Icy Time by Icecapade.)

Timeless Forest is the filly in my avatar. If I can figure out the posting pictures thing, I'll add a picture of TBird. :)
