The Woodward (Grade I)

Postby TJ » Thu Aug 29, 2013 8:31 am

The Woodward lost much of it's luster when Cross Traffic opted for the Jockey Club Gold Cup instead of the Woodward as his prep for the BC Classic. In addition, Fort Larned who is entered, will scratch due to a hind end issue which showed itself following his gallop this morning. On a positive note, Paynter is here and will try to stamp himself as a top contender in the older handicap division. Below are the entries and past performances. TJ

I'm having a hard time with this race, they all (well, most) look pretty evenly matched.
Paynter looks like the only speed, but he's a bit of an unknown. What are we looking at? He was a brilliant 3-year-old, got sick, came back pretty strong. Successful Dan won the Ben Ali on the front end. I don't think I'll ever bet on Mucha Macho Man or Alpha.

I'm going with Flat Out.

I agree, tough to handicap . Exacta and tri box 5-6-7
Give the Pope and the King of England a horse and in thirty days, they'll be stealing halters.

Wow. Alpha won.

"I don't think I'll ever bet on Alpha".

I am a horrible handicapper.

How about trying on the second best and third best
alternatives you select?

Nah, I'll just stick to my day job, and "dabble" in betting.
