From Snake Venom to Frog Toxin . . .

Maybe you've heard of it, the legal name for the drug is Dermorphin - they're calling it "Frog Juice."

I took a look to see if there were any posts in this forum around the time this drug was detected, but didn't see any posts related to the subject. I came across the subject while reading a Paulik Report titled: The Breeders' Cup Forum: Inside The Testing Lab.

An excerpt:

Who’s winning the war in horse racing: those who are trying to get a chemical edge or the regulators and testing labs?
I don’t know who is winning. I tend to be an optimist so I expect others to follow the rules of racing. Therefore, I was shocked and disgusted by the discovery of relatively widespread use of dermorphin by a number of trainers for no purpose other than to affect the outcome of the race with complete disregard for the health and safety of the horse and jockey and the integrity of the sport. I am particularly disgusted by the person or persons who made dermorphin available to horse racing.

I did some additional reading and found this article regarding the use of the drug in quarter horse racing. This article is worth reading: http://www.capitolreportnewmexico.com/tag/dermorphin/ Looks like they been using it or a long time.

An additional article regarding the drug at the DRF: http://www.drf.com/news/warning-change-test-led-spate-dermorphin-positives

No doubt old news, particularly for those residing near Louisiana and New Mexico. I hadn't read anything on it, maybe there are others.

Interesting what it tells us about those on the backside working in this game. Wonder what they'll come up with next. We've had snake venom now frog toxin. These guys have quite the imagination. Ainslie said it some forty years ago and interesting it still holds true to this day "the horse that truly pays it way is unusual." No doubt there are drugs being used right now that have yet to be detected.
