Cigar passes away
The great Cigar passed away. I loved watching him run. I wish he had been fertile. Did they ever figure that out?
Re: Cigar passes away
Just watched HRTV's, Inside Information documentary they did on Cigar back in 2012. HRTV has it up on their website for viewing.
Really sad to see the old boy go over the rainbow bridge. He was one my favorites to watch, and one of the all time greats in racing.

How terribly sad. I was such a fan of him back in '95 and '96. The day he lost the Pacific Classic I swear my heart broke. He was such a great horse.
Re: Cigar passes away
I still remember how the "passé" of Holy Bull simultaneously
marked the blossoming of Cigar in the very same race event.
They never met again, albeit the high-gearing of Cigar's winning
streak was quite formidable. Hard to understand how come
their connections didn't have a ghost of a chance to get at least
one foal from him.

R.I.P. Cigar
Re: Cigar passes away
I actually saw him this past summer. He was definitely looking his age, but he was a remarkable horse nonetheless. A great horse indeed.
