Churchill SInglehandedly killing racing?

Postby da hossman » Fri Jan 23, 2015 8:47 am

OK it has been obvious for some time that CDI does not care about racing other than 1 week a year. They have forced early retirement on most employees, replacing them with newbies that have no clue about a racetrack. The lack of hospitality towards owners, the increasing difficulty of dealing with management, the over-riding concern with squeezing as much profit as possible from the Derby (PSL's etc). Their recent handwork at Calder is shameful, just baldfaced "we don't care about anything but the casino".

Now they are refusing a pay raise to the mutuel clerks, who have been working for the same wages for the last 8 years! And they want to reduce hours for these same clerks!

Please, please let CDI know how you feel about their actions!
A difference of opinion is what makes horse racing and missionaries.

I knew several years ago when they fired the starter for a dozen Kentucky Derbys, who had never had a bad start or controversy, and replaced him with the starter from Ellis Park to save $4,000.00 a year that Churchill did not really care about the horses and jockeys. They really don't care anymore.
Give the Pope and the King of England a horse and in thirty days, they'll be stealing halters.

I too hate their actions and their attitudes.

However, their stock price has performed admirably over the last 5 years, and while many have, not all stocks have. In terms of fulfilling their obligations to stock holders, you have to give them credit for that.
