Afleet Alex, a horse he beat by about 30 lengths the last time out, is the favorite over him???
Greater Good is 4 for 4 in Routes, Afleet Alex is 0 for 2 in routes. And Afleet Alex is the Favorite over him???
The race is at 9f like last year, right?

Still at 9f, and the 'logic' of favoring AA over GG escapes me too.
Greater Good broke faster than usual (perhaps not faster than the Rebel but it was more sustained then at the beginning in that race) and then dropped back to mid-pack. Then he didn't show much of a move and finished 5th.
Holthus says he'll be given a 2nd chance in the Derby...
Afleet Alex was quite amazing in the last 1/8. It was funny how Rose said he was worried Greater Good was coming back on him because of the crowd cheering so loud when it was really Afleet Alex's move that was getting them excited.

Speaking of the crowd- 71,000 at Oaklawn Park(2nd largest crowd ever). It had an electric atmosphere with the grandstand packed and the infield open. It was really cool to see Jeremy Rose in the paddock after winning the Arkansas Derby-this kid(he hardly looks 20) has just won a million dollar race and is back to business as usual-attempting to mount Humble Chris(acting like a nut job) in a 35k allowance race. Jeremy has two wins for the day to give him the jockey title at OP by one win over Calvin Borel. Awesome performance by AA! - hopefully he and GG will do well in Kentucky-and surely the kid gets the mount!
It sounds like it was a wonderful day in Arkansas.
The Santa Anita Derby had that flavor too. It's a shame no one pointed that out before the furor. Maybe it was all the television hype but they got almost 40,000 people to come and when they sprung the gates, you heard a roar like it was the Kentucky Derby. It's been so long since I've heard that kind of enthusiasm that I actually looked to see if something bad happened.
Sigh...racing just shoots itself in the foot again.
