Postby louis finochio » Sat May 21, 2005 4:03 pm

This morn I was told that the Godolphin Stables TB by Dubai Millieumn won the 2000 Guineas.

I didnt hear the name of the TB that won as the Godolphin crew was busy sending their TB to the track.

Does anyone know the name of their TB.

Here's the writeup from the Thoroughbred Times website:

Dubawi sharp in Irish Two Thousand Guineas win

After finishing fifth in the Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) at Newmarket on April 30 in his first start of the season, Godolphin Racing’s Dubawi redeemed himself as romped across the finish line by two lengths in the $729,713 Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) at the Curragh on Saturday afternoon.
The son of deceased sire Dubai Millennium, with Frankie Dettori at the reins, shadowed from just off the pace in fourth as Hills of Aran set the tempo, leading seven rivals by as much as seven lengths straightening for home.

Dubawi then found another gear and commanded the lead a quarter-mile out, crossing to the far rail, and jetting away from Group 1 winner Oratorio, fourth in the English Guineas, to win in 1:41.60 for the mile on good to yielding turf. Democratic Deficit, winner of the Craven Stakes (Eng-G3) at Newmarket on April 14, edged up in the final furlong to finish third, six lengths back.

Dubawi’s return to form prompted speculation about a probable start in the Epsom Derby (Eng-G1) on June 4.

"This is a great day," said Godolphin chief Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum. "Remembering Dubai Millennium gave us inspiration and this was the real Dubawi today.

""I think he will get a mile and a quarter and sometimes mile and a quarter horses win the Derby," Sheikh Mohammed said. "I will talk with Sheikh Maktoum, the trainer [Saeed bin Suroor] and [Dettori] and we will decide whether we go to Epsom for the Derby or not. But there is no hurry to make a decision."

Godolphin has now won the Irish Guineas twice, with the previous victory being with Bachir in 2000.

As a two-year-old Dubawi won the Superlative Stakes (Eng-G3) at Newmarket and the National Stakes (Ire-G1) at the Curragh. Over two seasons, he has won four of five starts. Bred in Ireland by Darley, Dubawi is out of 1998 Italian Oaks (Ity-G1) winner Zomaradah (GB), by Deploy.

Completing the order of finish in the Irish Guineas was English Guineas runner-up Rebel Rebel in fourth, followed by Albert Hall, Capable Guest, Bobs Pride, and Hills of Aran.

Thanks Henthorn, I love to research those foreign GR SW as I can learn by their pedigrees what makes those superior runners. Be Well, Love Ya Louis.
