Giacomo

Giacomo has a chance to win the Belmont Stakes. He should love the 1 1/2 mile and long stretch at Belmont. Afleet Alex looks like the horse to beat but the 1 1/2 mile is a big difference because that extra 1/4 gets alot of the horses in the Belmont and you get upset winners like Commendable, Sarava, and Birdstone.

I don't get it when people say "there is absolutely nothing about his pedigree that would like a mile and a half".

How about Hawkster, Hawaii, Roberto, Amerigo, Forli, Quadrangle, Toulouse Lautrec, Utrillo...

The family is there. It's often hard to tell who will "like" a mile and a half, but he's got the bottom line to go the distance.

Oh, he'll go that far ... just REALLY S L O W L Y :D

If he wins, he's going to do it in about 2:30 and change. :24.5 - :25 second quarters, every time. Count on it.

Are you on the same island I'm on? (Sorry...I'm a "Lost" fan. :D )

He has the pedigree, the training and the talent to get 1-1/2. What more does this horse have to DO to prove he's in a class by himself?

Oh yeah. Win the Belmont.

Go, Alex!
So many pedigrees...so little time. (C)

Well i don't know who any of you are talking about but neither Giacomo or Alex are Bred to get 1 1/2. you can always find some stamina influence in a Pedigree, but i'm talking overall. Alex's half unforgetable max was good at about 1 3/8 absolute max. If one wins its only testament of how bad these 3 year olds are.

I think that Giacomo is the one that has been best conditioned to go the distance. Most trainers no longer seem to train for anything past a mile or so anymore. It is a real shame, the pedigree won't make up for lack of conditioning but then that is just my honest opinion
