Impressed by the Cat
Many will say Nolan's cat "passed tired horses" but i was visually impressed. I feel he received a horrible ride. The fractions were fairly soft, and the jock had him way too far back. He started to make a HUGE move circling wide and must have been 10 wide while continually closing ground. I'm not so sure he couldn't have had second with a better ride. Other thoughts? Alex is so impressive, and possibly not as much as lost in the fog who was pressured on the front end yet still repulsed chalengers, WOW. Good reward, shocking win on the turf, but man look at that breeding!!

In the paddock after the race Ramsey was boasting to the press that he had the trifecta for the race. The problem was that he was saying that he stood out Afleet Alex for first and wheeled his horse and a couple of others for second and third.
The problem is, and I'll stand corrected, is that in New York it is llegal for an owner to place a bet which specifcally excludes his horse from winning the race. It would have been OK if Ramsey had said that he had boxed all the horses, thus betting on Nolan's Cat to win teh trifecta bet, but he said that he stood out Afleet Alex to win.
Could his mouth have got him into trouble again?

He does seem to have hoof in mouth disease, doesn't he? I think most racing jurisdictions have similar rules, but they really don't make any sense. If his horse wins, he makes a lot more than winning the trifecta will make. And he knew his horse wasn't going to beat Alex, under most circumstances.

Me, I like Nolan's Cat- I was shocked when the announcer said he'd finished 3rd after I watched him trail most of the way. He's apparently one of those come from waaaaaaaaay behinders that are so truly interesting to watch
And who was it that said he looked like a sabino? Since I know next to zilch about these things, what tipped you off on the sabino? I see a lot of horses who have similar looks (Sweet Return, Wynn Dot Comma, Kitten's Joy) all with big white faces and white socks, and I generally love it. It's the white faces that get me
