Silca's Sister (GB) Byerly Turk sire line G1 winner
Aldridge Racing Ltd’s Silca’s Sister (GB) (Inchinor {GB}) sprang a 17-1 upset in yesterday’s G1 Prix Morny at Deauville, providing trainer Mick Channon with his second major juvenile prize in three days.
This latest G-1 SW for an Ahonoora branch sire of the Byerly Turk sireline has an interesting pedigree Stedfast. Thanks for sharing the news.
A very classic European pedigree....
There is just LOADS of Phalaris, top AND bottom....and I mean LOADS of it....in this filly's pedigree, but the further back you go the more strains of the Byerly Turk are seen woven into this filly's "Phalaris rich" pedigree and while some 4 of those strains descend from Tourbillion and two of those through his sire son Djebel (which branch of the B.T. sireline is available to breeders today, albeit with less of the variety that once was available), several of these 'Byerly Turk' strains are from sirelines that are lost now except as far removed influences, such as Roi Herode (3 strains), Bruleur (5 strains) and Ksar (7 strains). There are other non-Phalaris, non Byerly Turk strains that speak of classic capable speed and plenty of stamina/professionalism: Wild Risk, Solario, etc.
Scap Flow the iron mare who never won at less than 1.1/2miles appears frequently throughout this filly's pedigree, and Worden also figures big in this filly's pedigree, because he is doubled up close, one time through his his very good daughter, WICHURAIANA, Dam of WOLLOW, on her dam's side. You don't see WORDON very often this close in a pedigree today unless you're looking at hurdlers or show jumpers. WORDEN is considered a model of soundness who posessed a near perfect shoulder.
SILCA'S SISTER is not likely to prove a one time G-1 fluke either as she matures. Her full sister, GOLDEN SILCA made well over $803,000 LTE and was a multiple SW. Their sire, INCHINOR is now deceased....but springs from the AHONOORA branch of the Byerly Turk via Tourbillion/Djebel. This pedigree can be studied for the manner in which it harkens back to some of the older classic capable branches of the modern thoroughbreds with multiple returns of these older lines through a mare and a stallion whose pedigrees read like a pre-1950's history of the thoroughbred. Her dam was also bred to Green Desert and Effisio with less success.
GOLDEN SILCA was reportedly pregnant to Selkirk...does anyone know more about that foal, subsequent breedings of this latest G-1 winner's full sister?

Look what I got in my mailbox:
HALF-SISTER TO SILCA'S SISTER TO SELL AT TATTERSALLS OCTOBER PART 1
A PIVOTAL half-sister to the Group 1 Prix Morny winner SILCA'S SISTER looks set to be one of the highlights of Part 1 of the forthcoming Tattersalls October Yearling Sale following her impressive victory in the Deauville showpiece for trainer Mick Channon under the guidance of Ted Durcan. The daughter of INCHINOR defeated Ballydoyle's Group 2 July Stakes winner IVAN DENISOVICH and the Group 2 Richmond Stakes winner ALWAYS HOPEFUL for her owner/breeder Eddie Aldridge.
The yearling half-sister to SILCA'S SISTER by PIVOTAL out of the HALLGATE mare SILCA-CISA is catalogued as lot 588 and will be consigned to Europe's premier yearling sale by Fiona Marner's Kingwood Stud on behalf of Aldridge Racing. The filly is one of thirty yearlings on offer by PIVOTAL and one of five yearlings to be consigned from Kingwood Stud. The Listed-placed SILCA-CISA is the dam of six winners from her seven runners including the dual Group 2 winner GOLDEN SILCA and the Listed-placed colts SILCA LEGEND and MUSO CORTO.
Such a pity Inchinor is dead, he was also a stallion for the common breeders. Indian Ridge may be Ahonoora's best son at stud, but he is very expensive. In 1980 Ahonoora in his first year stood at the Irish National Stud for the very moderate fee of Ir. 1.750 pounds.
