The sport and industry survive not only because of the champions that are remembered forever but also because of the losers that are so easy to forget...

Louisana Downs is even money to get the FG dates as the FG track has been washed away by Katrina.

For those in hurricane areas keep Bee pollen and honey in your emergency kits as these too super foods will get you over the hill with Jill and then some.
Those without sin cast the first stone.

(edited from press release)

Retama Park and Sam Houston Race Park have offered to help find jobs for employees of Fair Grounds and horsemen who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Retama Park has teamed up with the Texas Horsemen's Partnership to offer employment assistance and other help to Louisiana horsemen who have been evacuated to San Antonio.

"We are prepared to provide help in any way we can to those Fair Grounds personnel who need economic assistance and housing," said Retama Park chief executive officer Bryan Brown.

Brown said Fair Grounds staff and horsemen can contact Angela Cooper at (210) 651-7137 at Retama Park. They can also contact Tammy Hare at the Texas Horsemen's Partnership at (210) 225-4318.

Sam Houston Race Park has also offered employment assistance to any displaced Fair Grounds employees who may be in the Houston area. Those people can contact Debbie Archer, Sam Houston employee relations manager, at (281) 807-8700.

Both Sam Houston and Retama have held fundraisers and donation drives to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
