Bummer....Bellamy Road out for the year

Postby austique » Mon Sep 12, 2005 9:32 am

Bellamy Road is out for the rest of the year due to a "moderate sized splint", but will race in 2006 paving the way for Bandini to be champion 3yo

I wasn't laughing about Bellamy Road who I think is very nice, but when I get a chance to take a poke at Bandini I can't resist

In an aside, Afleet Alex has been out of the news lately and might be vunerable for champion 3yo if his connections don't keep up their weekly updates on his condition. Lord knows Americans have short attention spans.

*head shake*

Not a chance in hell ... I'm going to start keeping a form letter for everytime this topic comes up because I really get tired of repeating myself.

ALEX HAS TWO LEGS OF THE TRIPLE CROWN. HE WILL BE 3YO CHAMPION.

It would take a 3yo besting his elders 2+ times before he would even be considered for 3yo champion over a horse who has two legs of the crown.

It seems like the only people with short attention spans are the ones who flat out refuse to accept that, learn from past Eclipse votes and continue to spout the idiotic notion that you can take a championship away from a dual classic winner as easily as they suggest.

Alex has already met the standard of Smarty Jones, Charismatic, Risen Star etc.

It is up to someone else to meet the standard set by Key to the Mint, Buckpasser and Holy Bull.

Re: Bandini...your honesty is not only appreciated...but also entertaining if I might add.

I look forward to hearing what you have to say when he's announced as retired to stud...and he's packaged, presented and advertised as something so Great that you'll be drooling to get one of only 200 (or more) seasons available to him for 2006.

And for probably only twice what he's worth (tongue in cheek  )...what a deal.

FOS,

It's just too late for Bandini. I'll be splitting my mares between Ghostzapper and Giant's Causeway next year. Think I'll make my money back?

All joking aside I like Bandini as a stallion prospect... same family as Stormy Atlantic... great broodmare sire lines. Conformation always an issue though but thats true with a lot of stallions.

hi coquinerie

Stormy Atlantic...wonderful family...and he seems to be really warming up as a sire.

He's apparently flourished in the bluegrass...and it's probably fair to say that his best and biggest foal crops are ahead of him.

It'll be interesting to see what Hill 'n' Dale does with his stud fee for 2006. If he gets one or two front page horses and/or a classic contender...I expect a serious bump in his stud fee could be expected...otherwise I expect a small bump might be the case.

SA's graded stakes-winning son Indian Ocean looked like a potential super-star and probably would have been a front page horse...if he hadn't sustained a career-ending injury. He was a VERY good one.

Now there's a young stallion prospect with a BIG pedigree...Indian Ocean...WOW.

Check the Indian Ocean thread... you're preaching to the choir!
