Suprized to see no one has posted on ol Foggy and his dominating performance today. He is the real deal and one of the most impressive horses I have seen in a long while.

hi Ryeno
Lost In The Fog is one sensational 3-yo sprinter...but the time has arrived for him to start running against some real race horses on a regular basis.
I expect he'll perform beautifully...but it's a total bore (as far as I'm concerned) when he runs against such a motley bunch at Bay Meadows.

FOS, I do not disagree with you that it will be much more interesting to see him vs. better horses. His time most certainly will come in four weeks, there is no denying that.
But what I will say is that at Bay Meadows today there were thousands in attendence that had never seen a horse race in person, solely because Lost in the Fog was running. A couple in front of me as well as the seats to my right were commenting on how much fun they had on the day and that it was there first time to the track. I spoke with the couple in front of me, explained how to bet and read the program, and they seemed to be having a good time. Now maybe they won't come back that often, but any additional interest and support of the tracks in Northern California is most welcome. It is certainly a mid-level track with mostly undistinguished horses, so for Harry Aleo to run a superstar like Lost in the Fog here was a real treat. Its people like Harry that make this sport so rewarding to the fans and horses like Lost in the Fog that bring excitement rarely equaled in sports. People were yelling and clapping at him for nothing more than walking in a circle in the paddock. Folks feel connected to him, and will root for him as if he was the home team. The race was a runaway, but there was nothing boring about it to the new fans in attendance.
I hope we see many more like Lost in the Fog in these parts, but I doubt it. I know in 4 weeks at Golden Gate Fields, everybody in the clubhouse will be pulling for Fog in unison, which will be unlike any other track around the country. Not unlike Smarty Jones and Afleet Alex, Lost in the Fog helps peak fan interest in the sport, albeit in Northern California. But we certainly need it.
