Misshaps

Postby ZiaLand » Sat Oct 29, 2005 4:06 pm

It always hurts to see this happen, especially with millions watching. I just wanted to acknowledge Funfair, who suffered a catastrophic fracture of a hind leg in the BC Mile.

I was so glad to see both Wildcat Heir and his jockey (Prado, I think) bounce back up from what looked like a terrible fall after the finish of the Sprint. The announcers stated they thought Wildcat Heir is going to be okay. The jockey was fine.

Wildcat Heir was just spent and stumbled. Physically he was fine.

Wildcat Heir was not fit enough to run in the BC, shame, shame on his connections. Im glad he was not injured.

Edgar was on Funfair(the horse that broke his hind leg), and Stew was on the horse that collapsed after the race.

Sarah, thanks for the clarification. I remember now that I thought Stewart Elliot must have been thinging that his mount was sure a far cry from Smarty Jones. It was unfortunate that the horse wasn't more fit, as it seems some of the handicappers thought Wildcat Heir really had a shot. I'm not a trainer and hardly qualified to criticize...but how could someone bring a horse into the Breeder's Cup that is so "leg weary" after the race that he stumbles and collapses. Yikes!

Maybe the horse cut off his air, and thats why he stumbled. You don't know..I know his PP's are a bit awkward, but I'm sure they didn't bring him into thinking he wasn't fit enough. At that level, they train too much..not usually not enough.

From an online news source...

Wildcat Heir was retired after fracturing a bone at the back of a knee while finishing 10th in the Sprint. The injury will not require surgery, owner Eb Novak said.
