Louis: Diamond Omi

Postby Swaps1955 » Sat Nov 12, 2005 9:14 am

Hi, Louis,

I'd read a week or so that Diamond Omi (Baffert's Breeders Cup Juvenile Filly) was very sick and at Chino Valley Vet Clinic. Have you heard anything? Love her and hope she recuperates well--though a serious illness like that can frequently compromise their future.

Thanks.

Wendy

Baffert said that she was fighting for her life, as she came down with a bad respitory virus after the BC.

I will ask Baf on Monday how she is doing.

Thanks, Louis. I'll look forward to finding out. You often read of the problem, but not what the outcome is. She is a lovely filly.

Baffert said his filly is still fighting for her life. Lets use the power of prayers to bring her back.

Thank you, Louis. What a shame. She is such a lovely filly. All my best thoughts and hopes for her.

In terms of public info on Bloodhorse.com,etc. is no news good news? I mean if we don't hear that she's been put down then she's still fighting and has a shot right? Anybody have an idea how long it takes to recover from this stage if you're going to in fact recover?

I would think the next few days will be a turning point. DO is a fighter so I would have to say she will beat the virus.

When people or animals give up and let go its over. DO is a fighter as Baf said, Hang in DO as we are sending are prayers and positive thoughts.

I will inquire about DO on Thursday and post it.

Louis,

I just wanted to thank you so much not only for keeping us up on this but other injuries and illnesses. I know they tell you not to get sentimental about a horse but sometimes it particularly matters to know how a certain one's doing.

I'm so glad she's a fighter. Can you please tell Baffert that a lot of us are rooting really hard for her here and over at the ESPN board and are praying that she'll be okay? Sort of adds to the 'I'm not alone' feeling that they might feel as a barn because we're in it with them, even if it's just in spirit. Thanks.

Baffert's foreman Pasqual said DO is doing ok now, and is expected to make a full recovery. Thanks for the info Pasqual.

Yay! :) I'm so glad. I hope we get to see her kick butt next year. What a tough gal.

I can't begin to tell you how sad I am at this news. What a brave battle she put up. She will certainly be remembered in the hearts and love of those who watched her run. A beautiful, golden-copper comet whose streak through time was much too brief.

I'm just sort of numb. She was such a beautiful girl. My heart goes out to everyone at that barn. I'm sure they're devastated.
