I saw this race. The horse immediately went to the front and had a pretty big lead coming into the stretch. The rest of the field was gaining as they approached the wire, but the field just ran out of ground. To me, it looked a case where the horse won despite the jockey--it looked like he might fall off in the stretch!--but I am so glad the jockey was able to win his first mount. Hopefully things will go a bit more smoothly for him, now that he has that one out of the way. I wish him all the best.

Man, I saw that name and I thought it was the FATHER after all of these years !!

I remember the father vaguely and could probably find some old programs here with his name included.

When any jockey wins his first race, he gets razzed something fierce, but it was all in good fun. Back in the jockey's room, he got nailed again with eggs, also with talcum powder, and shoe polish.
