I am looking for any available training centers near Charlestown Racetrack in West Virginia. I've heard about Shenandoah, but can't find a contact number for them. Anyone know of any, and how to contact them?
Thanks.

I was at Shenandoah about 2 weeks ago. My understanding is that it will be closed in a relatively short period of time. The conditions there are not good and only a few trainers remain. They are awaiting stall assignments in the new barns recently built at CT. For more information call the Racing Secretary.

Have you considered Middleburg
Middleburg Training Center comes to mind which is not far away. You may consider Maryland and maybe train at Bowie. There are stalls that can be rented across the way from Charles Town. Elaine Hagy has a barn that she owns across from the track. There are stalls that you can rent from owners of those barns.

The Bowie training center is owned by Magna and used for Maryland Racing. However there are a lot of trainers that race at Charlie Town from the Bowie training center. Magna's management would not be happy with that and my try to reduce your stalls if all your horses in training race at Charles Town.
Shenandoah is a dump and should have been closed 2 years ago. I think Charles Town owns Shenandoah so you can call the racing office at 1-800-795-7001.
Fair Hills is located in Elkton, MD. Its about 125 miles from Charles Town. Thats kinda far but it is located in a good spot to race on east coast.

Thanks, everybody. If Shenandoah is that bad, then probably Charlestown is out. I'm really picky about where I keep the horses, and the racing secretary said that stalls are full on the grounds. It was just a thought, though. We've got one filly that would fit in there really well, so we'd considered it. She isn't much of a shipper, so she needs to live near where she'll be running.
I had no idea that Bowie was that close, though. Our other consideration was to go to Delaware this season, and we already sent in our stall application, so maybe that or Maryland racing is the way to go.
We've been at the farm and away from the races for so long, we're just trying to decide on somewhere fun to go with the horses for awhile.
